Criton was acquired by Nonius, the leading group company that owns GuestU

GuestU is pleased to announce the merger with award-winning hospitality tech company Criton, the UK’s largest provider of guest apps for independent hotels. Criton’s product will be merged with GuestU, to offer a more complete Smart Hotel App, with all the features and functionalities needed to provide a fully digital and contactless experience for guests. The merger of Criton and GuestU means that RMS PMS, Clarity PMS, TLJ mobile key and Keystep key will soon be available on our platform.

Criton was founded in 2016 and provides white-labelled guest apps to over 300 locations including hotels and serviced apartments, offering them contactless solutions including speedier check-in, use of mobile key, which allows guests to go directly to their room, and mobile ordering.

This merger will create an unparalleled mobile offering in the hospitality sector allowing the merged companies to better serve a market that has grown exponentially since the pandemic hit in 2020. As demand for mobile technology in hospitality soars, the combined mobile business unit will serve 700 hotels and serviced apartments worldwide.

For hotels, the combination of these solutions means:

  • Cutting-edge guest-facing mobile technology
  • Increase of operational efficiency
  • Boost of guest engagement and satisfaction
  • Increase in revenue, save staff time, and upsell services/facilities

“At Nonius we have spent the past 17 years building and scaling a business which provides solutions to the global hospitality sector. We have been watching Criton’s growth in the market with interest over the past 5 years and we are delighted that we have been able to agree on terms to acquire Criton. Since its inception, Criton has grown an inspiring client list and we are now starting to implement our plan to fully integrate our platforms to create a world-leading offering from which hoteliers and their guests can benefit.
In Criton, we have found a business with a similar customer ethic and this acquisition gives Nonius an excellent customer base within the UK from which to continue to scale.”
